Africa Presents is a charitable organisation which seeks to promote positive images of Africa. We feature African artists and businesses that are making significant contributions to development on the Continent.

"An essential and necessary element of the African Renaissance is that we all must take it as our task to encourage she, who carries this leaden weight, to rebel, to assert the principality of her humanity -- the fact that she, in the first instance, is not a beast of burden, but a human and African being." Thabo Mbeki (United Nations University, 1998)

AFRICA PRESENTS

Behold,Africa!A new dawn

From whence ye shall no more a pawn

Sure,a new age to behold the brightest

A solemn brightness yielding from the grim darkness

'Tis  a new story to be told;

A new light to behold

From the Pyramids on high

To the ever trailing Nile

Through the golden hues in which the deserts lie

To the Lands of Gold and Diamond that never die

Not omitting the mellifluous Kiswahili

Nor the rich culture of Zulu

Believe me,'tis Africanism;not voodoo!

And again

A new dawn has come,

A new beam is shone

A radiant beam of inspiration and hope

One to save our backs from the ropes

From whence the cock crows

Till when the sun sinks low

The Sovereignty that Africa represents

True!That is AFRICA PRESENTS!

A faith to perceive and believe

A fate to retrieve and achieve

A fate of excellence and eminence

A fate we were compelled to leave in negligence.

But beware,the world!

It's a new story Africa must tell

AFRICA PRESENTS-

A true brewing pot for African intelligence

An indelible vestige of African excellence

A rechannelling of youthful resilience

Into a desire of utmost reverence

A dream of brightness

A reality of greatness!

There always comes a time

In the affairs of man

When strength must be bold

When great men;young and old

Must stand to salvage a sinking image

A time when the burning passion must be more

A time when man must be a standing shield

Never to be sunken by the oppressive field

That time is now!

And AFRICA PRESENTS, that shield

The shield of resurgence of true Africanism

The shield of undying patriotism

The shield of immortal truth

For every African youth

The shield of a blissful Africa

AFRICA PRESENTS,

Truly Africa,you represent!

'Oh AFRICA PRESENTS,

God bless the hearts and minds that brought you forth

God bless the hands that nurture you into beautiful growth

God bless the eyes that behold your uniqueness and sovereignty

God bless the lips that hail your name of Monarchy

God bless the heart and spirit that believe in your future

God bless you forever
                               Truly black,we are

And Africa,we represent

And truly as we are,

It's AFRICA PRESENTS!

Africa Presents next strategic steps

Africa Presents has been actively working on diffusing its message. We have many ideas and have chosen to focus on developing the organisation in the place where it all evolved.....

AFRICA

"Gathering Momentum in Ghana"

Ghana has and continues to unleash a wealth of artistic talent. On May 8th 2008 it launched the Africa Presents (Ghana) first opening forum with a resounding turn out. Illustrating that Ghanaians appreciate their talents in art and business, and have adopted an optimistic view,  strategically positioning themselves for success. ('Music to our ears')

The event took place at the University of Ghana. Presented eloquently and positively by our West African Development Coordinator -
 Mr Augustine Opoku Agyeman.
He sent out a forward thinking message highlighting Africa Presents Vision and Objectives. Opened up a Q & A session and a Think tank, where a variety of ideas and possible strategic steps were broached. In addition he formulated the Africa Present (Ghana) Committee and set a president which aims to be echoed throughout Ghana.
We want to add to this by setting up a blogging site which members can use to comment on events.

The message was clear and concise

Are you interested in dispelling the old image of Africa and embracing the continent’s growing opportunities in Art and Business?

What about showing African Art and Business to a wider audience and establishing networks with African Communities in Europe and Worldwide?

Ghana's answer was YES..; we wish you all success and want you to know you have our immeasurable support. We are looking forward to your next steps............

" The Future is Bright, when we Draw the Picture of Truth"
 in Sierra Leone

Meanwhile in Sierra Leone our agent Amadu Barry continues to devise numerous fundraising strategies, alongside building up interest and support for Africa Presents.
He has a small yet effective committee whom have been preparing a host of events. The most awaited being the Bo Beauty Contest. This will be held on the 15th June 2008. This event will help raise money for their main focus, which is to set up a Youth Arts Saturday Club. This club will give youths initially in BO, then eventually all of Sierra Leone, the opportunity to nurture their artistic ability. This club will give youths initially in BO then eventually all of Sierra Leone, the opportunity to nurture their artistic ability. All will be welcome up to 16 years (after an enrolment process) if they wish to paint, draw, dance or sing.
One of the plans is for a performance to be put on every 4 months, which when Amadu carried out a survey in BO, found that 95% were in favour of. This venture will require some additional funding, i.e. for staff - 4 hours on a Saturday, premises, facilities and light refreshments. Having examined their realistic proposal at our AP headquarters (UK), we think it is a fantastic non-profit and nurturing project. Their fundraising is in place and they are asking for help from every cornor of the world.

Their philosophy is
" The Future is Bright, when we Draw the Picture of Truth"...
we like it.

Sierra Leone has also been heavilly focussed on scoping artistic talent and they have built up a database which you will see soon....

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala - Doing business in Africa

Click here to watch the inspiring talk from Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the former Finance Minister of Nigeria and now a director of the World Bank. She tells of the negative images of Africa which dominate the news: famine and disease, conflict and corruption, and celebrates the less-told story unfolding in many African nations: one of reform, economic growth and business opportunity.

The results generated will be used for our own statistical purposes.
